SCOTT, WE’RE ASKING ABOUT THE POWER HIKES TODAY

Sask. Party Denied Rate Hike Rumours In December, Jacked Rates In January
REGINA – Carla Beck’s team will kick off Question Period Thursday asking, yet again, for Scott Moe to come clean on when he knew he was going to jack up power rates on Saskatchewan farms, families and small businesses by $136-million annually.

Ten times since the Spring Sitting began the Official Opposition has sought clear and transparent information about the hike — and 10 times the Premier and SaskPower Minister Jeremy Harrison have dodged the question.

In November, the SaskPower board met for the last time and rumours immediately swirled about a potential rate hike.

On December 4, during Question Period, Moe denied that a rate hike was even being considered.

Then, a $136-million rate hike was announced Jan. 2 and took effect in February.

Today, the first question put to the Premier will be the following:

“Mr. Speaker we’ve asked this Sask. Party government ten times this spring the same question:

When did the premier know that power rates would be going up.

He said there was no consideration in December.

Then the rate hike was announced in January.

It doesn’t add up.

When did the premier know?”

We will wait for the answer...
