SCOTT MOE’S MASSIVE DEBT GROWS BY THE SECOND — LITERALLY

Carla Beck’s Team Launches Website — www.40Billion.Moe — Tracking Moe’s Ballooning Debt In Real Time
REGINA — Scott Moe’s unprecedented debt grows by the second and now Saskatchewan people can view just how much damage his failed leadership is doing in real-time.

Today, Carla Beck’s team is launching www.40Billion.Moe, which includes an accurate counter of Moe’s debt. In his eight years as Premier, Moe has doubled Saskatchewan’s debt to $40 billion. People in the province are paying $1 billion annually to bankers on Wall Street and Bay Street just to cover the interest on the debt — or about $2,500 annually per household.

“Ultimately, it’s everyday Saskatchewan people that pay the price for Scott Moe’s failures — and with a debt this size this will hurt household budgets for generations to come,” said Carla Beck, Saskatchewan NDP Leader.

“We should have a government focused on making life better for our kids — on addressing the problems facing our province so they stay here to pursue their careers and raise a family. Instead, Moe is focused only on paying off his friends and insiders. It’s time for change.”

From Saskatchewan’s founding in 1905 until 2017 — the province’s accumulated debt stood at under $20 billion. Now the debt is on track to reach $57 billion by 2028-29.

Moe’s debt pile is nearly double that racked up by former conservative Premier Grant Devine and nearly three times the amount tallied by Brad Wall.

“After eight years of reckless taxing and squandering, and record-breaking debt, Scott Moe has ballooned the debt over $40 billion,” said Trent Wotherspoon, Shadow Minister for Finance. “It’s Saskatchewan people and families that are hit time and time again by this government that’s making them pay the costs and the price for this unprecedented waste and mismanagement.”

“It’s time for a government that will put a stop to all this waste and chaos.”
