Workers On Frontlines Who Didn’t Work On Moe’s Campaigns Haven’t Had A Raise In Years
REGINA – Scott Moe’s Government blocked a motion Tuesday to freeze the hefty wages earned by his buddies in the senior ranks of the provincial health authority, even while those on the frontlines continue to endure years without a contract.
SCOTT MOE BLOCKS MOTION TO FREEZE PAY FOR HIS BUDDIES IN HEALTH AUTHORITY’S SENIOR RANKS
The motion, proposed by Health Shadow Minister Meara Conway and immediately blocked by Moe’s MLAs, sought to freeze wages for Executive Leadership members in the Saskatchewan Health Authority until contracts had been bargained and signed with workers on the frontlines. The motion came in response to revelations the executives, some of whom have close political ties to Moe, saw their compensation rise a staggering $300,000 in 2025, even as the healthcare system collapsed.
“We hear from frontline workers sleeping in their cars, turning to food banks and selling blood plasma just to pay their monthly rent — today’s motion was delivering something better for them,” Conway said.
“These people are holding our healthcare system together as best they can while senior ranking officials gaslight them for raising concerns and fail to do their own jobs.”
The significant raises for SHA executives come in the wake of a series of scandals, escalating violence in hospitals, constant rural emergency room closures and patients being forced to receive care in hospital hallways and waiting rooms.
One particularly egregious example of a partisan appointment is Scott Moe’s former press secretary and leadership campaign staffer Jim Billington who earns $257,640 a year as SHA’s Communications Vice-President. Billington is tasked with community engagement and writing key messages that downplay the very real crisis in Saskatchewan hospitals.
“How are these people still in their jobs?” Conway said. “As it turns out, the only thing they needed on their resume to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars every year was a Scott Moe campaign credential.
“This is pay-to-play politics and it’s destroying Saskatchewan healthcare.
"Clearly, it’s time for change.”
