NDP Leader Ryan Meili calls for independent review into handling of COVID-19 pandemic

REGINA - This session, NDP MLAs held the Sask. Party government accountable for their pandemic failures and proposed real solutions to get Saskatchewan people back to work.

The NDP is calling for the Provincial Government today to take several practical steps that will help create jobs, support local businesses and provide family friendly activities as we look to easing restrictions in the summer.

“It’s been a tough year for so many families across this province,” said NDP leader Ryan Meili. “With the prospect of a safe reopening on the horizon, we need some fun in our lives, especially now. We are calling on the Sask. Party government to do everything it can right now to ensure we get our economy back on track and allow families to have a safe and fun summer.”

REGINA – Today, NDP Opposition Critic for the Status of Women Jennifer Bowes introduced Bill 605: An Act to Provide Safe Access to Abortion Services. If passed, the legislation would ensure that people have their constitutionally protected right to access health care, free of harassment and intimidation. It would also protect the health care workers and service providers who issue these services. The legislation mirrors similar legislation already established in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta

REGINA - The Saskatchewan NDP is calling out the Sask. Party government failure to put Saskatchewan workers and companies first. Construction is set to begin on the Blue Hills wind power project north of Swift Current under a power purchase agreement with an out-of-province company bringing in out-of-province workers. NDP Leader Ryan Meili is calling for Saskatchewan companies and workers to be prioritized for the next round of SaskPower’s power purchase agreements which are set to be announced in the near future.

REGINA – Over the weekend, Saskatchewan families saw the consequence of the Sask. Party government’s refusal to stand up to those who organize mass demonstrations in contravention of public health orders. Maxime Bernier’s rally laughed off the small fines that were handed out at the event in Regina.
