REGINA — Four months after initial calls from current and former frontline advocates, the Minister of Social Services has finally agreed to conduct an independent review of Raising Hope, a government-funded program providing housing and supports to women battling addiction. The decision comes months after Meara Conway, Opposition Critic for Social Services and Housing, wrote to the minister demanding this very action.
The statement reads as follows:
"Last month, avoiding accountability, the Sask. Party government announced that they would be delaying the start of session and the introduction of their budget to April 6th. This April 6th will mark the three-year anniversary of the devastating Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy.
REGINA - Today Aleana Young, Official Opposition Critic for Jobs and the Economy, called on the provincial government to cap the delivery fees charged by third-party delivery platforms at 15 per cent, down from the 25 to 30 per cent many apps are currently charging. The move would help restaurant owners save money and compensate for reductions in dine-in service as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.
SASKATOON - Official Opposition Health Critic Vicki Mowat called on the Sask. Party government today to update the people of Saskatchewan on the steps the province is taking to protect against and prepare for a possible third wave of COVID-19.
REGINA - Today Trent Wotherspoon, Official Opposition Finance Critic, and Aleana Young, Official Opposition Critic for Jobs and the Economy, launched pre-budget consultations to listen to the priorities of Saskatchewan people in advance of the delayed spring budget.
SASKATOON - Official Opposition Leader Ryan Meili and Health Critic Vicki Mowat called on the Sask. Party government to immediately introduce wide-spread rapid testing in schools, long-term care facilities, and high-risk communities and workplaces.
