Prior to the election, Moe promised the Urgent Care Centre in Regina would operate 24/7. Currently, the ‘regular’ operating hours of the Regina Urgent Care Centre are 8:00 am to 9:30 pm.
“Moe and his ministers said one thing during election season and are doing the exact opposite today,” said Meara Conway, Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Minister for Health.
“The Sask. Party has broken their promise of 24/7 urgent care because they have run so many doctors and nurses out of our province. After 20 years in power, the Sask. Party has broken healthcare in this province, and they can’t be trusted to fix it.”
There is no indication that the Sask. Party will staff up the center and deliver on their election promise as Scott Moe’s bad news budget only increased funding for healthcare by 0.3 per cent.
Moe’s Patient's First Health Plan recycles commitments made over a decade ago by a previous Premier that have still not been delivered.
“Moe has no real plan to get the healthcare system back on track,” said Conway. “We’ve been asking from day one what the plan was to staff this Urgent Care Centre, and this government still doesn’t have an answer. Their only response to a growing healthcare crisis is more photo ops and ribbon cuttings without any plan to address the staffing crisis.
“We need a government that fights for patients and healthcare workers and follows through on the promises it makes to the people of Saskatchewan. Frontline healthcare workers feel more disrespected than ever with many of them now going four years without a pay raise. Perhaps this government could start there.
“We need big bold change to get healthcare out of last place. It’s time for change.”
