SEPARATIST CAMPAIGN CONDONED BY SCOTT MOE RISKS SASKATCHEWAN’S ECONOMIC FUTURE

Head Of Alberta Separatist Movement Joins Town Hall In Saskatoon On Sunday
SASKATOON – As Scott Moe stays silent, the Saskatchewan NDP is again raising concerns about the negative economic impact of a separatist campaign in full swing.
On Sunday, approximately 200 people attended the first of 15 town halls hosted by Unified Grassroots. The group’s founder Nadine Ness was joined by Mitch Sylvestre, the CEO of the Alberta Prosperity Project. That group has put forward the following referendum question in Alberta: “Do you agree that the province of Alberta shall become a sovereign country and cease to be a province of Canada?”

It’s been reported on multiple occasions that the Alberta Prosperity Project has the numbers to force a referendum in Alberta.

As well, some of the slides shown during the town hall advocated for the same referendum in Saskatchewan.

“They want to separate, even as talk of such a thing will have devastating effects on our economy,” said Kim Breckner, Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Minister for Trade & Export Development.

“It will kill jobs, stall investment, and we could see whole head offices cleared out.

“We already know talk of separating is killing major investment in hydrogen projects in Alberta — I don’t want to see that happen here,” Breckner added.

Nadine Ness said during the town hall that Scott Moe and the Sask. Party have listened to her (35:00). And her group in the past has claimed it helped get Sask. Party MLAs elected, going so far as to call Yorkton MLA David Chan “one of us.”

The Saskatchewan NDP gave the Sask. Party seven chances in the last week of the Spring Sitting to hold the “free vote” Moe promised on Carla Beck’s bill to Keep Saskatchewan In Canada. Every time, the vote was shot down by the Government’s majority.

Scott Moe has refused to condemn this separatist movement. His silence on this is deafening,” Breckner said. “Now, we have a separatist campaign running in full swing in Saskatchewan and I fear it’s our economy and our future that will suffer.”
