Deleted Staff Video Shows Sask. Party’s Extravagant, Out-of-Touch ‘Day in the Life’
REGINA — Carla Beck’s Saskatchewan NDP is demanding answers after a Sask. Party MLA spent the day hopscotching Saskatchewan aboard a private jet — an extravagant “day in the life” documented by his own staff person in a since-deleted video.

On Aug. 27, Moosomin-Montmartre MLA and Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Health flew Moosomin–Lloydminster–Saskatoon–Regina–Moosomin over the course of the day aboard a private jet.

The deleted video shows Weedmark traveling first to Lloydminster for an announcement of new sober-living spaces, during which Mr. Weedmark’s staff member praises the high-end snacks in the bougie interior of the private plane. Lloydminster Sask. Party MLA, Colleen Young, was also present at the announcement.

The jet then carries on to Saskatoon, where the deleted video details some fine dining, a trip to Aritizia for some shopping, and mentions attendance at one government event, a 40th anniversary celebration for a local non-profit. Sask Party MLA Minister Terry Jenson was also in attendance.

The excursion ends with a 15-minute stop in Regina, where the staff person says she was getting off to begin her University semester, before the jet returned Weedmark to Moosomin.

Shadow Minister for Health Meara Conway has written to Weedmark demanding he disclose the actual cost of the private jet, who paid for it, whether taxpayers were billed, whether the trip was approved in advance, and in what capacity his staff member was travelling.

“They called it a ‘day in the life.’ For most Saskatchewan people, a day in the life means worrying about making rent or their mortgage payment, keeping the lights on and whether there’s enough left at the end of the month for groceries — not hopping around the province on a private jet,” Conway said.

The jet belongs to a Manitoba based company Andrews Air Ltd. A private aviation platform puts the average hourly cost of this exact private jet at over $6,000 per hour, suggesting this 10-hour itinerary could have run up as high as $60,000.

“The Sask. Party’s Kevin Weedmark needs to answer some very simple questions for Saskatchewan people,” said Conway, “Who paid the cost of this private luxury jet? How much did it cost? Why was it necessary? Why was his newspaper employee along for the ride?

“You don’t get to fly around Saskatchewan on a private jet and then leave taxpayers guessing about who paid the bill,” Conway said. “Kevin Weedmark got his private jet ride. Now Saskatchewan people deserve some answers.”
