CARLA BECK'S TEAM ONCE AGAIN CALLS ON SCOTT MOE TO GET BACK TO WORK AS TRUMP TRADE WAR ESCALATES

Sask. Party Continues To Play Political Games While Trump's Tariffs Damage Saskatchewan Industry and Jobs in Moose Jaw
MOOSE JAW – Carla Beck's team is calling on Scott Moe yet again to cancel his tee times, stop working on his summertime tan and get back to work addressing the serious harm being caused to hardworking Saskatchewan people amid the escalating trade war with Donald Trump.

“The hardest-working people on Earth live right here in Saskatchewan,” said Sally Housser, Shadow Minister for Energy & Resource Development. “Working people right here in Moose Jaw get up every morning, put on their boots and do an incredible job — even in the face of Donald Trump and his devastating tariffs.

“The Premier of this province should be doing the very same. They are actions we can take right here today to make life more affordable for families and support workers whose livelihoods are being hammered by these Trump tariffs.

"Statistics Canada is reporting today that the unemployment rate in Moose Jaw has jumped by 3.9 percentage points and employment fell by 800 jobs in the month of August. Scott Moe and the Sask. Party are failing the people of Moose Jaw."

Several other provinces have already brought forward measures that directly support or assist workers impacted by the trade war, including British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and PEI. Saskatchewan, however, has not.

"Pandering to Donald Trump — which seems to be all Scott Moe is good for — hasn’t worked,” Housser said. “We should be getting back into the Legislature and Regina and passing some laws to make a difference in peoples’ lives.”

On Monday, White City-Qu’Appelle Sask. Party MLA Brad Crassweller responded to the Saskatchewan NDP's call to recall the legislature by stating: "They've really offered no serious solutions. No useful contributions."

“Clearly, MLA Crassweller must have been asleep during Spring Session because our team brought forward nine bills that would immediately make life more affordable for Saskatchewan residents — bills that we would like to debate, and pass right away,” Housser said.

"We introduced bills to cut taxes on groceries and kids clothing, to reverse power rates and car insurance hikes, to bring in rent control, the list goes on — to say that we've offered no serious solutions is a slap in a face to all of the folks who are struggling to get by right now.

"This Sask. Party government continues to prove time and time again that they would rather play political games instead of helping the people of Saskatchewan. It's quite frankly embarrassing.

"It's time for them to get back to work. It's time for change."
