SCOTT MOE SHOULD SUSPEND THE GAS AND DIESEL TAXES AS FAMILIES HEAD INTO SUMMER

Families, Farms, And Small Businesses Getting Hit With Taxes On Summer Essentials And Fuel
REGINA – Carla Beck’s team is calling once again for Scott Moe to temporarily suspend the taxes on gas and diesel as Saskatchewan families gear up for the summer season.
Saskatchewan NDP Finance Shadow Minister Trent Wotherspoon said that families are facing extremely high prices at the pumps this summer and Scott Moe and the Sask. Party would rather rake in revenues from high oil prices due to conflict, rather than use some of those revenues to offer bit of relief to Saskatchewan families, farms and business at the pumps and that are struggling to make ends meet.

“With gas prices projected to rise above two-dollars-per-litre this summer, families need all the support they can get, especially as Scott Moe is also piling on a $26-billion coal plan on top of a $136-million power rate hike and sky-high gas prices,” said Wotherspoon.

“This summer, we need to be doing everything we can to support families, farms, and businesses who work so hard to grow our economy and build our province.”

“When families are heading out for some well-deserved family time, if they can afford to do so, whether that be camping or some time at the lake, the first thing they do as they hit the road is stop for gas — which Scott Moe continues to tax while people are struggling now more than ever.”

Temporarily suspending the tax on fuels and marked diesel would immediately save families, farms and businesses.

“Suspending the fuel tax would offer some well-deserved and desperately needed relief for Saskatchewan families, farms and businesses”

Moe is making the cost-of-living hardship facing people face at a time they can afford it least. This is wrong, and clearly it’s time for change.”
