Carla Beck’s Team Calls On Local MLAs To Stand Up To Premier, Education Minister & Demand Answers

PRINCE ALBERT— As Scott Moe and his Education Minister stand behind a decision to completely withhold information on the state of Saskatchewan schools, Carla Beck’s team is calling out Sask. Party MLAs in Prince Albert to demand transparency for the families they were elected to represent.

“This is a government that doesn’t believe it’s accountable to the people that elected it after 20 years in power,” said Matt Love, Education Shadow Minister. “They believe they’re above the rules and they work day in and day out to serve their friends and insiders, while families pay the price for their mistakes.

“It’s wrong. It’s time for change.”

On Wednesday, Love exposed a completely redacted 160-page document that was provided to Carla Beck’s team in response to a freedom of information request for all information on the condition of schools provincewide.

Prince Albert families are facing growing pressure on local school infrastructure, with aging buildings and enrolment growth creating an urgent need for investment. Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division has identified a new school to replace École Arthur Pechey as one of its major capital priorities, while a major renovation and renewal of Carlton Comprehensive High School is also high on its priority list.

The province has acknowledged space pressures in Prince Albert by allocating additional relocatable classrooms to the community for the 2026-27 school year. Families and school divisions deserve a clear, transparent plan for when these badly needed school infrastructure projects will move forward.

“We know there is a need for more maintenance funding and new schools — and not a shred of transparency is being provided to Prince Albert families on decisions being made in the Regina Cabinet Room,” Love said. “That’s shameful.

“Today, I’m calling on the Sask. Party MLAs claiming to represent Prince Albert to speak out, take a stand against the Premier and demand transparency on the schools they send their kids to every day.”
