SCOTT MOE, MINISTERS SIT ON HANDS WHILE TRUMP HITS SASKATCHEWAN ECONOMY

Slow & Ineffective Sask. Party Fails To Protect Jobs, Livelihoods During Ongoing Trade War

REGINA – Premier Scott Moe has no fight left in him and no clue what to do as Donald Trump continues to hit the Saskatchewan economy.

In Question Period Monday, Moe couldn’t produce a shred of evidence that he had followed through on a promise made March 6 — 235 days ago — to end contracts with American companies as part of an apparent strategy to fight back.
Trump is increasing tariffs on Canada by 10 per cent. Harmful tariffs have been put on Saskatchewan steel and lumber for months.
On July 11, this Premier made the ridiculous claim that Trump’s tariffs would have a “minimal” impact. Trade with the United States, Saskatchewan’s largest trading partner, is down 13 per cent.
“The Premier wants this all to look like business as usual when it’s anything but,” said Trent Wotherspoon, Saskatchewan NDP Finance Shadow Minister. “He plans to continue his failed strategy of pandering to Trump. Instead of making excuses for Trump as the Premier does, we'll stand up for the people of this province and this country every day of the week.
“Eighteen years of this Sask. Party Government and our economic outlook is only getting worse.”
TD Bank predicts Saskatchewan will miss the Sask. Party’s growth targets both this year and next.
“These are people’s jobs at stake,” Wotherspoon said. “It’s their homes, it’s the money to buy food for their families, and so much more.”
The Saskatchewan NDP continues to call for ending government contracts with American companies and taking American booze off store shelves.
