SASKATCHEWAN NDP LAUNCHES SHOP LOCAL, SHOP SASK. CAMPAIGN

Amid threat of harmful tariffs, Beck calls on Saskatchewan residents to promote and share favourite local busineses

SASKATOON – Carla Beck and the Saskatchewan NDP are launching an interactive campaign encouraging people to “Shop Local, Shop Sask.” as Donald Trump is just days away from hammering the Canadian economy with 25 per cent tariffs.

"This is a call to action, and we know so many Saskatchewan people are already making a conscious effort to shop local, to support Saskatchewan and Canadian-based businesses and products,” Beck said.

“Whether it’s families at their local grocery store or governments when it comes to public contracts and builds, it’s time to bet big on Saskatchewan and on Canada.

“For the Saskatchewan NDP, Canada is first and we will never be the 51st state.”

The threat of tariffs from President Donald Trump has seen a surge and patriotism as Canadians look to make their voices heard with their wallets. Here in Saskatchewan, 79 per cent of shoppers will look to replace purchasing American products with Canadian products.

To promote more Saskatchewan businesses and support local shopping, Beck and the Saskatchewan NDP caucus are launching a website – www.shopsk.ca – where Saskatchewan people can submit their favourite local businesses to be featured.

The website also includes a series of social media shareables and encourages people to sign a petition supporting Saskatchewan businesses.

“Saskatchewan people have always supported their neighbours – supported each other. It’s who we are,” Beck said. “We’re a province of innovators and entrepreneurs, always exceeding expectations.

“Let’s unite and make sure that our dollars are going to support and grow Saskatchewan’s businesses and economy.”

Saskatchewan people can add their favourite local shop to www.shopsk.ca.
