SASK. PARTY RESOLUTION WILL FUEL HATRED & BIGOTRY

Saskatchewan NDP Welcomes In New Canadians, Plans Consultation Focused On Keeping People In Province
SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan NDP is welcoming people in after they were sent a clear message their voices don’t matter by Scott Moe and delegates attending the Sask. Party Convention over the weekend.
Delegates at the convention voted to ban permanent residents and youth from having a vote on Sask. Party affairs moving forward.
‘’From Many Peoples Strength -- that is what Saskatchewan is all about,’’ said Tajinder Grewal, Saskatchewan NDP Advanced Education Shadow Minister.
‘’And we draw on our collective strength by having a vibrant and thriving democratic system where the people deserve a voice. Permanent residents came here legally looking to build a life with their families. They pay taxes, pay their mortgages, work in our hospitals, our schools and contribute to our society greatly.
Over the weekend, they were told by the Sask. Party that their voices don’t matter.’’
Premier Scott Moe endorsed the resolution during a media interview last week.
‘’He knew full well that this resolution would give rise to hate and bigotry like we've have seen south of the border and Scott Moe chose to support it anyway – that's shameful,’’ Grewal said, adding, ‘’For everyone looking to build a life here, participate in our democracy and give back to Saskatchewan, I say welcome. The Saskatchewan NDP invites you to our growing movement, to have a seat at our table.’’
Early in the new year, Grewal along with Immigration & Career Training Shadow Minister Noor Burki will begin consultations with young people about how to keep them here in Saskatchewan. The project will be called Your Future, Your Say.
‘’We will talk to young people and people who have come to Saskatchewan from other countries looking to build a life,’’ Grewal said, ‘’We will talk to working people who tell us every day that they're working harder and harder but falling farther and farther behind.
Together, we will build an economy filled with good-paying jobs, end the crisis in healthcare, make our communities safer, properly support our schools and so much more. We will build a bright future for every person that calls Saskatchewan home.’’
