SASK. PARTY HAS LET SCHOOLS ACROSS PROVINCE CRUMBLE FOR 18 YEARS AND COUNTING

REGINA – Scott Moe and his ministers must answer for allowing Saskatchewan schools to crumble over 18 years of failure and mismanagement.
A government report obtained through a freedom of information request earlier this year found 13 schools in Saskatchewan were in “critical” condition and another 132 were in “poor” condition.
“The Sask. Party is going to claim today that they’re supporting students and the schools they learn in — but that’s a flat-out lie,” said Matt Love, Saskatchewan NDP Education Shadow Minister. “Their record is one of letting our schools fall into disrepair over 18 years of refusing to fund proper maintenance and upkeep.
“Our students deserve better. Every one of them deserves a quality, well-funded school so they can get a good start and build a bright future right here in Saskatchewan.”
A school is found to be in “critical condition” when the total cost of needed repairs is more than 30 per cent of the school’s cost.
“Frankly, the Sask. Party has never put students first,” Love said. “They have refused to fund public education.
“We don’t have to settle for this. We can build a future right here where every student is given every opportunity to get the skills and education they need to succeed.”
