SASK. PARTY COWERS AS TRUMP TARIFFS HIT SASKATCHEWAN

REGINA – Despite the threat of tariffs looming for months, Scott Moe and the Sask. Party had no plan of action yesterday to fight back, protect our economy and secure our economic future.

Instead of stepping up with a response like other premiers, Moe continues to cower behind closed doors in a secret meeting — keeping Saskatchewan people in the dark while jobs and entire industries hang in the balance.

The Sask. Party refused to take questions from reporters yesterday. They also continue to refuse to reopen the Legislature and get back to work.

“How is it that everyone saw the tariffs train rolling down the tracks a mile out except for the Sask. Party? Who is in charge over there?” asked Aleana Young, Shadow Minister for Jobs and the Economy.

Saskatchewan workers and businesses deserve leadership, not secrecy. We should be in the Legislature right now, publicly debating and developing a real plan to respond. Instead, Scott Moe is sitting on his hands, doing the bare minimum.”

The Saskatchewan NDP continues to call for the Legislature to reopen and for bold action to protect Saskatchewan’s economic future with important investments in rail lines, power lines and pipelines.

After 17 years in power and big losses last election, the Sask. Party is divided, tired and out of ideas.
