SASK. NDP, WHITE CITY COUNCILORS DEMAND PROVINCE BUILD LONG-OVERDUE HIGH SCHOOL

For immediate release: May 22, 2025

One of Saskatchewan’s fastest-growing communities still has no high school as Sask. Party refuses to invest

WHITE CITY – The Saskatchewan NDP and White City councilors are jointly calling on the Sask. Party government to finally build a drastically needed high school for White City and Emerald Park — something the community has been calling for for years.

“This high school should have been built years ago,” said Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Education Minister Matt Love.

“Families in White City and Emerald Park have been clear that this is a top priority. Councilors are calling for it. The school division has been calling for it. And the Sask. Party is still ignoring them.”

White City and Emerald Park are the only communities in Saskatchewan with a combined population of over 5,000 that don’t have a high school.

The Prairie Valley School Division has called for the project for years, and local parents have collected nearly 800 signatures in support.

“This community is growing faster than nearly any other in our province,” said Shadow Minister of Municipal Affairs Jared Clarke.

“White City and Emerald Park have so much potential for a bright future, but they need the infrastructure to match.”
