Sask. Party fails to create jobs again- 5,600 more people now looking for work
Despite their spin, Sask. Party mismanagement and the refusal to diversify the economy has led to another month of job losses. Unemployment in Saskatchewan increased by 5,600 in July 2016 over last July, according to numbers released today by Statistics Canada.

Sask. Party mismanagement sees deficit jump another $248 million
The Sask. Party finally released their year-end financial documents and revealed a deficit of more than $1.5 billion. The final numbers for the 2015-16 fiscal year are significantly worse than the Sask. Party claimed during the election and just 5 months ago in their third quarter update. Even when pension costs are excluded, the Sask. Party’s deficit is a quarter billion dollars higher than they had told the Saskatchewan people.
Serious questions remain about GTH scandal
With the Premier ducking questions, will the Minister responsible provide any answers?
Following the Provincial Auditor’s report on the Global Transportation Hub scandal, the Premier and his Sask. Party government have failed to answer a number of important questions.
With Minister Bill Boyd making a rare appearance and being made available to media today, the Official Opposition Saskatchewan New Democrats are calling on him to finally come clean about this growing scandal.
“This GTH scandal is troubling on a number of fronts. We know that it wasted millions of taxpayers’ dollars, and the government won’t say why,” said Official Opposition Leader Trent Wotherspoon. “A number of questions have been ducked by the Premier and the Minister – the people of Saskatchewan deserve answers and full accountability.”
Fifth straight month of Saskatchewan job losses
Saskatchewan’s employment numbers continued to decline last month, with numbers dropping year-over-year for the fifth straight month.
