Saskatchewan NDP Caucus

At 6.8 per cent, Saskatchewan continues to have the second highest unemployment rate in the country, outside of Atlantic Canada. Also troubling are the steep job losses in sectors such as construction and real estate which are important sectors when considering possible growth in jobs and the economy. Combined, they alone saw 11,000 jobs lost in just the last year. Saskatchewan’s resource sector also lost 2,000 jobs.

 


 

Saskatchewan’s Official Opposition welcomes the pipeline decisions made earlier this week. It is the long-standing position of the Official Opposition that the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Expansion and Enbridge Line 3 Replacement Project are in the best interests of Saskatchewan while the Northern Gateway pipeline would result in tanker traffic following far too treacherous a route.

Throughout the fall session, the Saskatchewan NDP took the Sask. Party to task for the consequences of their mismanagement, scandal, and waste. In and out of the legislature, members of the NDP caucus called the Sask. Party out for everything from the GTH land scandal to hidden billion dollar deficits, job losses, and cuts to everything from healthcare to education.
