MOE, MCLEOD FLAIL ABOUT IN TRAINWRECK NEWS CONFERENCE

SASK. PARTY TOO FOCUSED ON MANAGING BASE RATHER THAN GOVERNING PROVINCE
MOOSE JAW – Premier Moe and his Moose Jaw MLAs held a trainwreck of a press conference in today – an indication that their government is too focused on managing their base ahead of a party contentious convention instead of governing the province. 
At the press conference, which started over 30 minutes late, it was announced that the city’s shelter will be moved out of the downtown core.
 
The announcement seemed to take Mayor James Murdoch and the Moose Jaw Downtown Association by surprise.  
When asked, the Mayor told reporters that he just learned of the provincial government's unilateral decision moments before the event started. He said that the Downtown Association did not ask for it to be moved. 
The chair of the Association Alex Carleton, who attended the event, was asked why the city and his association were left out of the discussions.  
“Well, we're just finding out this fact today as well,” Carleton said. 
“After 18 years and big losses last election, the Sask. Party seems to be in panic mode,” said April ChiefCalf, Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Housing Minister. 
“We’re hearing that many people in the Sask. Party want to give Moe the boot and are gearing up for a fight at convention. The knives are out, and the government is scrambling to fill the news cycle.” 
“That’s clearly distracting the Premier and his government from running the province.”

REGINA – As rural municipalities continue to gather in the province’s capital, the Saskatchewan NDP is backing their collective call for long-term drought support for producers as some areas have experienced severe conditions for nine years and counting. The Saskatchewan NDP have been calling for emergency drought measures and long-term fixes together with drought devastated RMs and producers throughout this summer and fall.
