EVEN SCOTT MOE’S FRIENDS KNOW HE’S FAILING SASKATCHEWAN STUDENTS

Funding For Education Among Worst In Canada, Used To Be Best: Fraser Institute
SASKATOON – As students pack their bags to return to classes next week, new data published by the Sask. Party Government’s own allies lays bare the negative effect Scott Moe and his Ministers are having on public education across the province.
On Thursday, the right-wing Fraser Institute released its 2025 report on Education Spending in Public Schools in Canada. It shows that Saskatchewan had the second-largest decrease in inflation-adjusted per-student funding at –14.8 per cent. Only Scott Moe’s pal Danielle Smith is putting the hammer to classrooms harder, with Alberta seeing a 17.5 per cent reduction in inflation-adjusted per-student funding.
According to the Fraser Institute, Saskatchewan went from the highest inflation-adjusted per-student funding in 2013/14 ($18,518) to the seventh in 2022/23 ($15,774).

“This data makes clear what we hear from parents, teachers, educational assistants and students each and every day — that the Sask. Party has failed on education,” said Matt Love, Saskatchewan NDP Education Shadow Minister. “After 18 years in power, this government is out of ideas and only focused on paying off their friends and insiders.”
“They can’t even properly support educating Saskatchewan’s students — our future leaders. It’s shameful.”
Love noted that it took the courage of thousands of teachers to advocate for an increase in funding for classroom supports in their negotiations with government, which still fall short of what is needed to bring the province to adequate per-student funding levels.
“The Sask. Party has to be dragged kicking and screaming to do anything resembling the right thing,” he said. “Still, Saskatchewan students are going to return to school next week and be faced with overcrowded classrooms inside crumbling schools. Their teachers are overworked and there aren’t nearly enough educational assistants.”
Love called for an immediate increase in funding to provide immediate supports to schools.
“I want parents, teachers and students to know that the Saskatchewan NDP is fighting for you, fighting for our public education,” he said. “We won’t let up because this is too important — our kids are our future.”
