CRITICAL CONDITION: JORGENSON LAUNCHES RURAL HEALTHCARE TOUR

SASK. NDP MLA DRAWS ATTENTION TO GOVERNMENT REPLACING ER DOCTORS WITH WEBCAMS

Saskatchewan NDP Associate Shadow Health Minister Keith Jorgenson launched his Critical Condition tour amid increased reports this summer of emergency room closures and chaos in rural and remote hospitals across the province.  
Jorgenson is visiting communities where the Sask. Party is replacing real doctors with virtual doctors in emergency rooms.  
“Instead of hiring more doctors, the Sask Party seems perfectly fine relying on virtual doctors. That doesn’t cut it in emergency situations where minutes count,” said Jorgenson.  
“The Sask. Party is essentially pretending that doctors can be replaced with webcams in life-and-death emergency situations. Virtual care has a role to play in our health system, but not in the emergency room. We need doctors available and on duty. 
Today, for the first leg of his tour, Jorgenson will visit Rosetown, Biggar, Kindersley, and Kerrobert to speak with residents about their experiences with virtual emergency room care.
