CARLA BECK TOWN HALL TO DISCUSS URGENT NEED FOR NEW YORKTON HOSPITAL

Sask. Party Has Broken Promise Of New Hospital For Nearly Two Decades
YORKTON – Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck and her team will be hearing directly from the people of Yorkton today about the importance of a new hospital for the city.
Beck’s town hall is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Gallagher Centre, National Bank Convention Place, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
It will be the first of several town halls where members of the public will be asked to share their stories on how the Sask. Party has failed to deliver healthcare and their ideas on what should be changed moving forward.
“We know that, after 18 years of the Sask. Party, our province is ranked last place in Canada for healthcare,” said Beck. “Yorkton has so much potential and people here are tired of broken promises from their government.
“They deserve so much better. They deserve a new hospital.”
The Sask. Party has been promising a new hospital for the city of Yorkton for nearly two decades and has failed to deliver.
Formal discussion about replacing the hospital began in 2011 with conceptual plans presented to the public in 2012.
The Sask. Party made the community fundraise for a six-figure feasibility study and then shelved it.
Thirteen years later, the Minister of Health told media the project is still in the ‘scoping portion’ but made no commitment to begin construction. In July 2025, the government announced $1 million to develop a business case – another in a long series of delays.
“It's time for big bold change in healthcare,” said Beck.
