CARLA BECK STANDS WITH CANCER PATIENT LEADING CHARGE TO END CANCER PARKING FEES

SCOTT MOE’S CRUEL POLICY MUST BE REVERSED IN UPCOMING BUDGET
PRINCE ALBERT – Carla Beck is standing with former city councilor and terminally ill cancer patient Dennis Ogrodnick as he leads the charge to axe Scott Moe’s heartless parking fees for cancer patients.

Ogrodnick is a long-time community champion and former city councilor for Prince Albert, who has been told his cancer will kill him. He has made it his dying goal to bring back free parking for cancer patients in Saskatchewan.

Dennis has been to the Legislature to lobby for action. He’s addressed media in Saskatoon and Prince Albert, and still Scott Moe ignores him and cancer patients like him.

“Cancer patients have enough on their minds — they shouldn’t have to worry about parking bills when they should be spending time with loved ones and working on treatment,” said Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck.

“Isn’t having cancer enough to deal with? This is a senseless fee that causes nothing but stress and headaches for those already struggling so much.”

Cancer patients used to be exempt from parking fees in Prince Albert, until Scott Moe’s Sask. Party government changed its position and started nickel-and-diming cancer patients for parking in 2023.

The Sask. Party's budget is set to be introduced next month, and Ogrodnick hopes that the government and his local MLAs will finally do the right thing after years of lobbying.

“I have had to spend years fighting my government – I should have been able to focus on fighting my disease,” Ogrodnick said. “This policy is mean-spirited, cruel, and simply not what Saskatchewan is about. The Saskatchewan I know and love does not accept this.”

“After 18 years in office, Scott Moe and his local MLAs are out of touch, out of ideas, and taking our province in the wrong direction,” added Jared Clarke, Shadow Minister for Rural and Remote Health.
“It’s time for change.”
