CARLA BECK COMMITS TO REPEALING BILL 137 AT SASKATOON PRIDE

Scott Moe Has Spread Fear And Division With Hateful Legislation
SASKATOON – Carla Beck’s team is out in force today at Saskatoon Pride, showing support and committing to repealing Scott Moe’s hateful Bill 137 because it harms kids.

“When I look out at Pride, I see diversity, respect, love and joy,” Beck said. “That’s what Saskatchewan is all about.

“We can stand together for basic human rights and we can stand against Bill 137. We don’t want hate. We don’t want discrimination. We don’t want ugliness or mean-spirited politics. We don’t want kids to be harmed — it’s time for change.”

Beck said Saskatchewan people want a province where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of who they are or who they love.

“That’s why I’m recommitting today that a Saskatchewan NDP government will repeal Bill 137 immediately,” Beck said. “We will put an end to using young people as political scapegoats and put an end to a government that prioritizes division over bringing people together to address the real challenges we face.”

Nathaniel Teed, 2SLGBTQ Affairs Shadow Minister, said Pride is both a celebration and a reminder that the fight for equality and inclusion continues.

“Pride is about community, visibility and standing up for one another,” said Teed. “The 2SLGBTQ+ community deserves a government that treats them with dignity and respect, not one that uses them as a political wedge.

“It’s easy for politicians to stoke division and discord. It’s harder to build a province where everyone belongs.

That’s the work we’re committed to doing, and that’s why we will continue fighting to repeal Bill 137 and build a Saskatchewan where every person can live openly, safely and authentically.”
