SASKATOON - Official Opposition Leader Carla Beck joined rural leaders at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) Midterm Convention today to hear about their concerns and ideas for the future of the province.
Beck Joins Rural Leaders at SARM Midterm Convention
“We want to be a government for all people in this province, no matter where you call home,” said Beck.
“My dad, a longtime RM councillor, often took me to SARM conventions. I have so much respect for the people who devote their lives to their community. I look forward to these conventions every year. No other room of people better understands the big issues facing our rural communities than SARM.”
Beck, who grew up on a farm near Lang, recently took on the job of Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs, in addition to her duties as Leader.
She said the move is meant to emphasize the importance of agriculture and rural communities to Saskatchewan’s identity and economy.
“I grew up in rural Saskatchewan. My parents and family still live in rural Saskatchewan. My team is proud of this province and we want to meet people where they’re at and look for common ground.
“We all just want a government that gets the basics right. Good mortgage paying jobs you can be proud of. Healthcare when and where you need it. Roads that don’t make you feel like you’re riding a rollercoaster. The basics.”
