BECK CLEARS CALENDAR, TAKES IMMEDIATE ACTION IN RESPONSE TO U.S. TARIFFS

REGINA – In response to Donald Trump’s devastating tariffs, Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck has cleared her calendar to speak directly with producers, labour leaders, and industry representatives across the province.

As Saskatchewan faces serious economic fallout, Beck is working the phone to ensure those most affected have a voice ahead of the Legislature’s return later this month.

“Saskatchewan jobs are on the line,” said Beck. “It’s incumbent on elected leaders to show that they care about what people are going through right now and are focused on the future. I’m picking up the phone and listening to the people who are going to be hit hardest.”

Beck has repeatedly called on the Sask. Party to immediately reopen the Legislature to respond to the crisis. Instead, the Sask. Party has delayed its reopening until March 19.

The government also did not have a plan to respond to the tariffs yesterday, despite seeing them coming a month away.

“We can’t waste time. The government needs to get back to work, put politics aside, and start acting like leaders,” said Beck.

The Saskatchewan NDP is reiterating its call for bold new investments to expand rail lines, pipelines, and power lines and twin the Trans-Canada Highway from coast to coast — strengthening Saskatchewan’s ability to trade beyond U.S. markets.

The party is also renewing its call for Saskatchewan to fight back by boycotting American goods and choosing made-in-Saskatchewan alternatives.
