Investment in Trade Infrastructure, Equalization Reform, Childcare Deal Among Saskatchewan NDP Priorities

REGINA – Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck is calling on the newly elected federal government to listen to the people of Saskatchewan and move quickly to address the province’s priorities.

“Saskatchewan families expect action now — not just promises — from Ottawa,” Beck said. “The federal government has an opportunity to make things right and help build a bright future for Saskatchewan, starting today.”

“Congratulations, Mr. Carney. Now, it’s time to unify the country and deliver on what matters.”

Beck outlined key areas where immediate action is needed, including:

  • Major investments in infrastructure — including rail lines, pipelines, power lines, and highways — to get Saskatchewan goods to global markets
  • Swift action to remove Chinese tariffs on canola exports, supporting Saskatchewan farmers and rural communities
  • A fair deal on equalization that reflects Saskatchewan’s contributions and challenges
  • A renewed commitment to protect the national childcare program, ensuring more families have access to affordable early learning

“Now more than ever, we need to bring Canada together,” Beck said. “Every province deserves to be heard and respected. That’s how you get things done in this country.

“It’s time for us to come together and focus on the future. Saskatchewan’s future. Canada’s future.”
