APOLOGY, INVESTIGATION NEEDED AFTER HEALTH AUTHORITY MISINFORMATION COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE

Sask. Party Friends and Operatives Failing to Do Job at Senior Levels of Broken Healthcare System
SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan NDP is calling for a public apology and an independent investigation after the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), which is stacked full of Sask. Party friends and insiders at the senior level, misled the people of southeast Saskatchewan and could have gotten someone killed in the process.
Last Friday, the SHA recklessly asserted that the emergency room in Herbert was not closed, and that it hadn’t been closed since Aug. 7, when in fact the opposite was true. When members of the media presented the SHA with conflicting reports and asked for clarification, it took the SHA four days to correct their misinformation.
In the meantime, unknowingly, members of the media reported that the closed Herbert emergency room was open — the kind of misinformation that can get someone killed.
“Either the SHA lied, or the Sask. Party plants within are really that incompetent and out-of-touch with life outside the Legislature in Regina,” said Keith Jorgenson, Saskatchewan NDP Associate Shadow Minister.
“Whatever the case, the people of southeastern Saskatchewan deserve an apology and answers.
“After 18 years of Sask. Party failures, this latest catastrophe underscores the need for big bold change in healthcare — taking power and resources away from the Sask. Party insiders in Regina and giving them back to local leaders and healthcare workers on the front lines.”
The Saskatchewan NDP is consulting the people of Saskatchewan on big bold change to the health system. Patients, healthcare workers, and local leaders can make their voices heard at YourCareYourSay.ca.
