SCOTT MOE, SASK. PARTY HIDE SHADY BACKROOM DEAL ON SHERWOOD HYPERSCALE DATA CENTRE

Sask. Party Also Continues To Hide Locations Of 30 Other Data Centres Touted In Government News Release
REGINA – Building on his well-earned reputation as the least transparent Premier in Canada, Scott Moe and his Sask. Party MLAs have a blocked a motion calling for the public release of the Memorandum of Understanding that locked in the controversial hyperscale AI data centre in Sherwood. Moe has also blocked the public release of the locations of the 30 other data centre applications that he bragged about previously in a Sask. Party news release.

Carla Beck’s team attempted to obtain all relevant documents through a freedom of information request, but it was denied. On Tuesday afternoon, the Sask. Party blocked the motion which was introduced by Brittney Senger, Shadow Minister for Tech, Innovation & AI.

“This is the attitude of an entitled, arrogant and out-of-touch government that has clearly been in power for far too long,” Beck said.

"This is a project that the Sask. Party has refused to consult on despite the impact it will have on power rates, the environment and more. The Sask. Party also stated they were reviewing 30 more applications but won't say where. Transparency shouldn't be optional for a project that will have this kind of impact on the lives of Saskatchewan people.”

When Scott Moe announced the quadrupling of the Bell Data centre, he also signed a non-binding MOU with Bell Canada. The details of this MOU have been hidden.

In a news release on August 27, 2026, issued by Jeremy Harrison, it stated "Saskatchewan currently has over 30 applications for data centre developments in the queue..."

"What did Scott Moe or Jeremy Harrison promise in this MOU, that they will work so hard to keep hidden?" Senger said.

"Where are they planning on putting these 30 other data centres, without consultation or regard for the local communities? These are simple questions that deserve answers, not the lies, sneers, and insults from Scott Moe and the Sask. Party."

When asked in the Legislature if he would consult with the people of Saskatchewan, Moe stated that it was not his responsibility to consult on the project.

“Scott Moe is simultaneously passing the buck when it comes to consultation but also refusing to meet with the people who will be impacted.” said Senger.

Beck added, “The era of the Sask. Party locking the people of Saskatchewan out of the decisions that affect their lives is coming to an end.

“People are tired of being an afterthought in the premier’s eyes and that is why so many of them are telling us that they want change.

“And we won’t let them down.”
