Saskatchewan NDP Caucus

It often seems like there isn’t an issue the Premier isn’t willing to throw a twitter tantrum over or elbow his way into a media scrum for but, when it comes to the Sears employees who have lost their jobs and could lose their pensions, the Premier and every member of the Sask. Party government seem happy to sit on their hands and keep their mouths shut. 

The June job numbers released by Statistics Canada today show Saskatchewan was the only province outside of the Atlantic with fewer people working and more people looking for work than a year earlier and, when the numbers are adjusted to take into account changing seasonal demands, Saskatchewan’s unemployment rate is now the second highest. 

Despite the Sask. Party’s repeated commitments to improve mental health services – and even though federal funding has been committed and a million-dollar private donation has been offered – the Sask. Party have announced they are refusing to move forward with plans for a mental health emergency unit in Saskatoon.
