FOI reveals 2023 worst year for obstetric services closures

SASKATOON - Today, Official Opposition Health Critic Vicki Mowat responded to mother-child services again closing in Meadow Lake over the holiday season. Mowat also released new SHA data indicating that 2023 was the worst year in the last half decade for obstetrical care closures.

REGINA - Today, Sask. Party MLAs voted against a special investigation by the Provincial Auditor into the Ministry of Social Services’ use of hotels, meaning that there won’t be any report released until after the next provincial election.

REGINA - Today, Official Opposition Leader Carla Beck and Rural and Remote Health Critic Matt Love responded to new SHA data. The data reveals that the Moe government has closed services at a minimum of 53 hospitals since 2019. Ethics and Democracy Critic Meara Conway also blasted the Moe government for withholding this information for nearly a year until the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner got involved.

SASKATOON - Today, Official Opposition Health Critic Vicki Mowat and Rural and Remote Health Critic Matt Love responded to a new study conducted by independent research institute SecondStreet.org. The institute found that, of the provinces reporting, Saskatchewan had the second most people per capita population who died while waiting for a surgery.
