Last week, the Premier continued with his grandstanding and twitter tantrums. While other premiers negotiated benefits for their own provinces, Brad Wall threw away Saskatchewan’s voice and what was left of the Sask. Party’s credibility on the national stage. This week, more issues were revealed about the growing problems and costs of the Sask. Party’s $1.5 billion carbon capture scheme.

Brad Wall used to dismiss First Ministers meetings as a ‘race to the microphone’ but now he’s at the front of the line. He’s excited to deliver his Twitter tantrums orally and seems unconcerned about blowing Saskatchewan’s credibility in the process.

At 6.8 per cent, Saskatchewan continues to have the second highest unemployment rate in the country, outside of Atlantic Canada. Also troubling are the steep job losses in sectors such as construction and real estate which are important sectors when considering possible growth in jobs and the economy. Combined, they alone saw 11,000 jobs lost in just the last year. Saskatchewan’s resource sector also lost 2,000 jobs.

Saskatchewan’s Official Opposition welcomes the pipeline decisions made earlier this week. It is the long-standing position of the Official Opposition that the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Expansion and Enbridge Line 3 Replacement Project are in the best interests of Saskatchewan while the Northern Gateway pipeline would result in tanker traffic following far too treacherous a route.
