MOE REFUSES TO CUT HIS GROCERY TAX AS MANITOBA DOES

Kinew Cutting Families A Break, Moe Can’t Be Bothered
REGINA – Scott Moe continues to slap a $25-million tax on Saskatchewan groceries, despite the government in neighbouring Manitoba taking steps to save people money.

Financial anxiety in Saskatchewan is the highest in all of Canada — four-in-10 people report borrowing money just to buy food. Still, the Sask. Party’s PST on groceries remains in place right in their bad news budget released last week.

On Tuesday, Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew announced his government was pulling the grocery tax in that province to help families make ends meet.

“Why does this Premier not realize people here are hurting even worse than those in Manitoba?” said Carla Beck, Saskatchewan NDP Leader.

“He won’t lift a finger as seniors are choosing between medication and buying groceries and families are having to choose between eating and home heating — clearly, it’s time for change.”

Scott Moe has also refused to cut his 15-cent-per-litre gas tax as prices have surged over $1.75 per litre in recent days due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. On Monday, Moe and his MLAs voted to block a motion that would temporarily suspend the gas tax until things return to normal.
