Meili responds to record increase in COVID case count

NDP Leader Ryan Meili issued the following statement in response to today’s case count numbers:

"Today's record jump in cases is extremely concerning and should be a wake-up call for all of us.

Saskatchewan has seen some of the biggest outbreaks in Canada, yet we've fallen significantly below the national average when it comes to tests per capita. We need to rapidly expand testing.

The Premier also needs to be clear about supporting mask use as a tool to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We should be encouraging the wearing of masks in addition to other physical distancing measures — and the province should be taking steps to ensure that masks are available for everyone who wants one, as other provinces have done.

We're not out of the woods here. Saskatchewan people have made huge sacrifices, but the work isn’t done, and the government needs to step up to support Saskatchewan people and stop the spread of COVID-19.”
