TWO WEEKS ON, STILL NO RECEIPTS ON WEEDMARK'S LUXURY PRIVATE JET TRAVEL

Carla Beck's team ramps up calls for receipts, questions pricing of luxury jet
REGINA – Two weeks after questions emerged about the cost of Kevin Weedmark’s private jet travel, Saskatchewan NDP Health Critic Meara Conway says the government has still failed to provide basic answers or receipts.

Since the story broke, Carla Beck's team has written to Weedmark, the Premier, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Health seeking information about the cost of the Cessna Citation 560 used to ferry Weedmark around to his various public duties. To date, they have received no answers.

Today, Conway has written to Air Andrew President and CEO Scott Andrew seeking clarification after Andrew publicly stated that the Lloydminster trip, if flown today, would cost “less than 20,000 bucks.”

That figure differs significantly from estimates that Carla Beck's team has received from other charter companies operating in Saskatchewan for a comparable itinerary from Moosomin through Lloydminster, Saskatoon, Regina and back to Moosomin.

One company quoted a turboprop plane at a starting price of $38,000, stating an equivalent light jet would likely cost significantly more.

Conway also sought clarification regarding the CEO's public comments, featured in Weedmark's newspaper, the World Spectator, claiming the jet utilized by Weedmark was "a working man's aircraft." Conway pointed to an online site that described the interior of the plane as a "luxury resort" and even encourages those flying aboard a Cessna Citation 560 to "let your aircraft interior speak the language of luxury."

"This is an MLA that is literally flying above us in a luxury private jet while people on the ground are struggling to fill up their car. Adding insult to injury, Kevin Weedmark is in hiding and won't even come clean with the receipts." said Meara Conway, Shadow Minister of Health.

"People right now are struggling with the cost-of-living while frontline healthcare workers hold up a collapsing system and are asked to wait years for a pay raise.

"It's time for a government that cares, and that doesn't live in the clouds hiding from the chaos they've created.

"It is time for a change."
