PATIENT WITH BRAIN SWELLING UNDERGOES COMPLEX PLASMA PROCEDURE IN RUH HALLWAY

SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan NDP has learned that a patient with a swelling brain at Royal University Hospital was forced to undergo complex procedures in a hallway. 

In August, the patient twice received a plasma exchange to reduce the swelling, something one nurse called a “new low.” 
The family shared photos of the deplorable conditions in the hospital with the Saskatchewan NDP in hopes that this will never happen to anyone ever again.  
“This is absolutely unacceptable, especially in the birthplace of Medicare,” said Keith Jorgenson, Associate Shadow Minister for Health."
“When our loved ones visit the hospital, we should be able to assured knowing that they are getting the best possible care. That isn't happening after 18 years of Sask. Party mismanagement.”
Videos of horrific hallway healthcare in Royal University Hospital have recently gone viral, amassing hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook. 
The Saskatchewan Health Authority, which is stacked with Sask. Party hacks at the senior level, has come under fire for not only their mismanagement of Saskatoon’s hospitals in recent weeks but also their desperate attempts to minimize the situation in misleading public statements. 
One such lie was that the hallway healthcare in RUH was exceptional, and caused by a spike in flu cases. The photos shared by the family clearly depict out-of-control hallway healthcare occurring much earlier. 
“Our hospitals are going in the wrong direction, and we need big bold change to get them fixed,” said Jorgenson. “We can’t have a bright future in this province if we don’t have quality healthcare.”
