MOE REALLY ISN’T GOING TO APOLOGIZE FOR MOULD GROWING IN SASKATOON INTENSIVE CARE UNIT?

Frontline Workers Continue To Bravely Expose Disaster In Saskatchewan Healthcare
SASKATOON – Scott Moe is yet again hiding behind high-paid health authority executives, even after shocking photos of mould growing on the windows in a Saskatoon intensive care unit last week.
The photos, leaked to Carla Beck’s team, show mould growing up the windows in what frontline staff have identified as the Royal University Hospital intensive care unit. Also in the photos provided is a whiteboard where staff have written a warning about the mould and indicated it’s been there for at least two weeks.

On Friday, Beck’s team demanded an immediate remediation plan, an independent review of the overall cleanliness of the hospital and a formal apology from Moe and Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill. To date, an unnamed spokesperson for the health authority said the window would be replaced but offered no timeline.

Moe and Cockrill have said nothing.

“No apology and no serious action to account for the horrific state of healthcare in Saskatchewan,” said Keith Jorgenson, Associate Shadow Health Minister. “They’re insisting this mould is safe, but how could they possibly know that?
“It’s gross, it’s disturbing and it’s potentially hazardous to peoples’ health.”

Royal University Hospital has routinely been at or overcapacity for years. Previously, photos have surfaced of people lying in beds in the hallways and in the reception area because there were no available rooms.

“We’ve got an overrun hospital, the presence of mould and not a Premier or a Minister in sight,” Jorgenson said. “These clearly aren’t leaders — they’re cowards.”
