HOW MUCH PUBLIC MONEY WENT TO WEEDMARK’S NEWSPAPER?

MLA Continues To Hide From Media, While Scott Moe's Ministers Cover For Him
REGINA – Carla Beck’s team is calling out Scott Moe’s Ministers who covered for fellow Sask. Party MLA Kevin Weedmark in Question Period, refusing to provide clear answers on how much public money from their ministries poured into the bank account of Weedmark’s privately-owned newspaper. The funding then, in turn, was reinvested in the Sask. Party’s campaigns.
Both Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill and Justice Minister Tim McLeod refused to answer basic questions — namely, just how much public money was spent to put Sask. Party healthcare propaganda into Weedmark’s newspaper, The World Spectator.

"Kevin Weedmark can hide, and Jeremy Cockrill can try and spin and distract, but the public doesn't buy it," said Shadow Health Minister Meara Conway.

"We will not stop asking questions and demanding answers, until this government steps forward with basic answers and accountability, and until Weedmark finds a microphone.” Weedmark recently refunded taxpayers for a federal grant used to hire the reporter who traveled with him on his luxury jet excursions.

Alongside healthcare advertisements, Beck’s team has identified others in Weedmark’s paper from the Ministries of Agriculture, Government Relations, Labour Relations, Immigration and Career Training.

In her letter seeking an investigation from the Conflict of Interest Commissioner, Conway noted that advertisements for SaskJobs, Saskatchewan Agriculture, and Work Safe Saskatchewan were all recently run in Weedmark’s newspaper.

"Kevin Weedmark travels around in luxury private jets, asks for exemptions to the rules everyone else has to follow, and refuses to be honest and upfront with the people who have legitimate questions about his conduct," said Conway.

"The people of Moosomin-Montmartre deserve better than high-flying Kevin Weedmark, and the people of Saskatchewan deserve better than the Sask. Party who is covering for him. It’s time for change.”
