Carla Beck Demands An Apology From Moe, For Minister To Be Fired
REGINA – Carla Beck is directly calling on Scott Moe to take responsibility and apologize for his failure to lead during last summer’s wildfire crisis after two scathing reports found a litany of Sask. Party failures.

Beck also called for Moe’s Minister at the helm of the disastrous response, Tim McLeod, to be fired from Cabinet.

On Wednesday, when questioned by reporters, Moe would only pin blame on the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, saying it needed to “regroup,” “do better organizing,” and “better communicate.” He didn’t once acknowledge his own failures.

“Leadership is about taking responsibility, about admitting when you’ve got it wrong and then doing everything possible to ensure the same mistakes never happen again,” Beck said. “Hundreds of homes burned to the ground and entire communities were lost in last year’s fires.

“Reviews have found that Moe and his Ministers weren’t properly funding resources needed to fight fires despite warnings and calls from community leaders to do so for years.

Both a review from MNP and the Provincial Auditor have put much of the blame squarely on Moe’s government. To date, only one senior leader within the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency has left their post.

“Tim McLeod continues to sit around the Cabinet table and collect a minister’s paycheque — he does this as people in the North lost so, so much that they will never get back,” Beck said. “It’s time for him to go and it’s time for Scott Moe to head North and apologize directly to the people impacted by his failure to lead.

Despite his failures during the 2025 Wildfires, Tim McLeod continues to serve as a member of the Board of the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.

“Then, he can pass The Wildlife Strategy Act that we’ve introduced to ensure people of the North have a voice in all future wildfire preparations and response. It’s time to restore trust that’s been broken and it’s time to do what’s necessary to protect communities.

“It’s time for change.”
