Job Description:
The role of the SK NDP Tour Officer, based in Saskatoon, will be to support the public engagement strategy of the SK NDP Caucus office in Saskatoon and surrounding area. The successful candidate must be based out of Saskatoon or be willing to relocate to Saskatoon. This role will report directly to the Director of Tour in the caucus office, who will manage and direct the work of the Tour Officer. Main duties include administrative and logistical support for the planning, development and execution of outreach events and activities. This role will also work with the Director of Communications to coordinate and facilitate media events in Saskatoon. This individual shall maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the Director of Tour, including scheduling stakeholder meetings, booking and coordinating travel, dining, and accommodation arrangements;
- Assist in the planning, research and development, and coordination of strategic public engagement priorities;
- Act as point of contact for the Leader of the Official Opposition and Members of the Saskatchewan NDP Members of the Legislative Assembly in preparation for local and regional stakeholder meetings and public relations engagements;
- Follow up from meetings with Stakeholders, and assist in rapid response to emerging issues;
- Attend local and regional meetings with the Leader of the Official Opposition;
- Provide support to the Director of Communications by editing communications materials
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong community relationships within Saskatoon and Saskatchewan;
- Minimum one year in a professional office environment; experience in public relations or communications is an asset;
- Excellent computer literacy and use of technology, with proficiency in Microsoft suite software;
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills;
- Exceptional attention to detail;
- Critical thinking skills with solution-focused outcomes;
- problem-solving, strategic thinking, excellent time-management and great interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders;
- Strong interest in politics;
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organise events;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment and to prioritize competing demands with minimal supervision;
- Ability to prepare and/or disseminate information dealing with confidential and sensitive matters;
- Initiative;
- A valid driver’s license.
- Membership in good standing with the SK NDP
- Demonstrated ability to work with highly confidential material
