SCOTT MOE’S TRADE MINISTER TELLS PEOPLE STRUGGLING TO MAKE ENDS MEET TO SUCK IT UP

Warren Kaeding Tells Podcast Audience Those Complaining About Affordability They’re Lucky They Weren’t Living In The 1980s
REGINA – Scott Moe’s out-of-touch Trade Minister has dismissed widespread concerns among Saskatchewan people about the sky-high cost of living, saying things were much worse 40 years ago.

In an interview with The House Podcast aired July 11, Minister of Trade and Export Development Warren Kaeding told the interviewer:

“I tell everyone, you know when everyone is concerned about affordability, ‘hey, you didn’t grow up in an era where there’s 18 and a half percent interest rate...’”

Saskatchewan people have consistently reported the highest rate of financial anxiety in Canada in public polling for more than a year. Rental rates have gone up every month for years, the price of some foods have doubled since Scott Moe became Premier and, despite this, the Sask. Party continues to tax food, gas, kid’s clothing and hike rates for power, car insurance and more.

“Talk about tone deaf,” said Sally Housser, Shadow Minister for Energy & Resource Development. “The reality is this Minister sits at a cabinet table helmed by Scott Moe that has made decision after decision to make life harder and less affordable for families.

“Now, we see why — he doesn’t have a clue or is completely ignorant to the realities facing Saskatchewan people choosing to put food on the kitchen table or keep a roof over their head.”

Last week, Kaeding’s fellow Minister Ken Cheveldayoff reported publicly spending more than $10,000 each on four business class plane tickets for a mission to Asia. Carla Beck’s team found completely suitable flights to the same destinations for one-third of the price.

“These are ministers that wine and dine on the taxpayer dime and then mock those who are working harder and harder and falling farther behind,” Housser said. “Scott Moe, Ken Cheveldayoff, Warren Kaeding, it’s time to put down the champagne glasses and caviar-covered toast points and talk to real people about what they’re facing.

“What we have here is a lame, 20-year-old government that has forgotten the very people it was elected to deliver for.

“We don’t have to settle for more Sask. Party scandal, corruption, waste and mismanagement. Carla Beck’s team is ready and will do everything we can to make life more affordable from Day 1.

“It’s time for change.”
