SCOTT MOE MAKES QUICK STOP IN NORTH EN ROUTE TO GOLF FUNDRAISER, LEAVING BEHIND ANGER AND ABANDONED WILDFIRE VICTIMS

People Who Lost Homes in Summer Wildfire Crisis Call For Premier To Meet Them Face To Face
PRINCE ALBERT – Scott Moe made a quick pit stop in a northern community impacted by wildfires to provide a bit of political cover before launching a golf fundraiser today not far from where entire communities burned.
Moe has ignored calls for months to tour northern communities devastated by wildfires – Denare Beach, East Trout Lake, and Sucker River – and hear firsthand from residents. There also is no evidence of Moe visiting any evacuation centres in Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Lloydminster or elsewhere, despite his claims to the contrary.
But on Tuesday, Sask. Party leadership will be at Elk Ridge near Waskesiu to tee off in the “Northern Golf Classic,” a fundraiser to pad the bank accounts for Sask. Party political campaigns.
“Scott Moe would rather golf with his buddies and fill his campaign war chest than do his job and support the people of the North who lost so, so much this summer,” said Brittney Senger, Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Minister for Ethics & Democracy, during a news conference in Prince Albert Tuesday.

“Scott Moe’s actions in all this remind me a lot of how his buddy Donald Trump acts — he plays golf while everything burns.”

The area where the Sask. Party is holding their exclusive golf fundraiser has been impacted by wildfires throughout the summer. The nearby Buhl fire is still classified as “Not Contained,” Parks Canada had to issue a warning in July that visitors should stay away from neighbouring Prince Albert National Park, and the only highway in or out of the region, Highway 2, has closed multiple times due to wildfire activity.

The Sask. Party’s widespread failures to respond to the wildfire crisis have prompted a formal investigation by the Provincial Ombudsman. People impacted by the fires have come forward for days demanding Moe cancel his fundraiser and meet them face-to-face in their devastated communities.
Senger noted that Moe did make a stop in Beauval Monday, which was evacuated due to wildfire threats for weeks, to provide himself a modicum of political cover for his golf fundraiser.
“The Sask. Party is out-of-touch with everyday people,” Senger said. “Their decision to press ahead with this golf fundraiser shows that this government really only gives a damn about you if you donate to their political campaigns.
“Saskatchewan, you deserve better than this.”
