SCOTT MOE IS GOING TO MAKE CASH-STRAPPED PRINCE ALBERT RESIDENTS PAY FOR HEALTHCARE

Moe Praises Alberta’s Move To Two-Tier, American-Style Healthcare In Public Hospitals
PRINCE ALBERT – Carla Beck’s team is warning that Scott Moe appears deadset on dismantling public healthcare — which was created right here in Saskatchewan — and making everyday residents in Prince Albert and right across the province pay for healthcare.

“This has been the strategy all along — drive public healthcare into the ground and then force us to a model where people are forced to rack up tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt to get the care they need,” Beck said. “Our team has had more than 1,000 conversations about healthcare over the past six months and one thing has been clear — people here are proud of public healthcare and they believe it can be fixed.

“Not once, did someone vouch for privatization because they know full well it will drive up costs and restrict access to a wealthy few.”

Moe has now endorsed a move to two-tier American-style healthcare in two separate interviews, including one last week on a podcast hosted by former B.C. Premier Christy Clark. He has openly endorsed a model being adopted in Alberta where surgeons will be able to perform paid private surgeries in publicly funded hospitals.

When pressed about these endorsements on Friday, the Sask. Party’s communications team didn’t even attempt to reject claims they were moving to the same model here.

“People here in Prince Albert are already making impossible decisions each and every day about whether to pay their rent or put food on the kitchen table,” said Keith Jorgenson, Associate Shadow Health Minister. “Now, Moe is going to try pile on unimaginable costs for desperately needed healthcare.

“Once again, people are going to pay for a mess of the Premier’s own making. After 20 years of the Sask. Party, healthcare here is in worse shape than ever.

Beck added, “Our message to the people of Prince Albert and right across Saskatchewan is you don’t have to settle for this — better is possible.

“We can deliver a plan to end the crisis and go back to doing what we do best — leading the nation in healthcare. It’s time for change.”
