SASK. PARTY REFUSES TO PASS MORE THAN 20 BILLS FROM CARLA BECK’S TEAM THAT WOULD MAKE LIFE MORE AFFORDABLE, FIX HEALTHCARE & MORE

Scott Moe Continues To Downplay Cost-Of-Living Crisis As Saskatchewan People Report Highest Financial Anxiety In Canada
REGINA – As the Spring Session comes to an end, Scott Moe and the Sask. Party are refusing to pass more than 20 bills from Carla Beck’s team that would make life more affordable, bring needed changes to healthcare and so much more.

Among the legislation ignored by Moe’s out-of-touch government are bills to lower power rates, cut taxes on groceries and children’s clothing, bring in desperately needed rent control and force the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s hand to sign contracts with frontline healthcare workers who have gone four years without a raise.

The prices of many essential food items have shot up 50 per cent since Scott Moe became Premier, gas prices have surged by 50 cents or more per litre in recent weeks, and rent has risen in Saskatchewan for 43-straight months and climbing.

“This session, our team introduced a series of laws that would instantly make life more affordable in Saskatchewan — Scott Moe and the Sask. Party ignored them all,” said Carla Beck.

“This government continues to tell people making impossible decisions between putting food on the kitchen table and keeping a roof over their heads not to worry.

“That’s insulting, it’s ignorant and it’s further proof of a government long past its best-before date.

“It’s time for change in Saskatchewan.”

During the session, Carla Beck’s team also introduced eight bills that would help fix Saskatchewan’s healthcare system and support healthcare workers who haven’t seen a pay raise in over four years.

“Our team has fought tooth and nail to pass legislation that would provide real time updates regarding emergency room closures, ban private fees on healthcare services, and ban SHA executive pay hikes until healthcare workers get a deal,” said Meara Conway, Health Shadow Minister.

“Scott Moe and the Sask. Party have been playing political games with our team’s lifesaving legislation and have refused to support healthcare workers and patients at every turn.”
