SASK. PARTY MOOSE JAW MLAS OFFER MIXED MESSAGES ON CONTENTIOUS DATA CENTRE, CONTINUE TO IGNORE THOUSANDS OF CONSTITUENTS

MLA Megan Patterson Literally Cut A Ribbon With Project’s Proponents One Year Ago
MOOSE JAW – One Sask. Party Moose Jaw MLA says a highly contentious data centre in the Valley View area is dead.

The other? Well, she cut a ribbon at a celebration for the project last year.

Both continue to refuse calls for a process to evaluate such projects and for a public consultation.

“Who’s calling the shots over there? Clearly, it’s not the good people of Moose Jaw who these MLAs were elected to represent,” said Sally Housser, Shadow Minister for Energy & Resource Development.

Thousands have signed a petition voicing concerns about the proposed data centre, citing power usage, environmental concerns, infrastructure demands and more areas that require clear answers.

On Friday, Scott Moe stated that anyone opposed to the data centre is anti-development but then also said no power was being allocated to the project.

Then, Cabinet Minister and Moose Jaw North MLA Tim McLeod said no power meant the project was officially dead.

However, his colleague and the MLA for Moose Jaw Wakamow, Megan Patterson, was at a ribbon cutting event for the project and posted photos of the celebration on June 19, 2025 on Facebook. Patterson appears to have spoken at the event and posted on Facebook that, “Our government welcomes private capital investment to create jobs and fuel growth so can continue to be the best province to live, work, raise a family and start a business in!”

“You can easily see why people are so concerned about this project,” Housser said. “There’s no transparency, no process, no consultation — just a Sask. Party government that doesn’t seem to have a clue what it’s doing.”

Beck’s team has announced an open house in Moose Jaw for Aug. 11 from 5-7 p.m. at the Sportsman Centre to hear concerns from residents about the data centre project.

“We are continuing to demand a clear process and transparency on this data centre and others being proposed right across Saskatchewan,” said Kim Breckner, Trade & Export Development Shadow Minister. “People deserve leadership and they deserve a say in the future of their own communities. Thousands of people in Moose Jaw are being wrongly ignored. It’s time for change.”
