SASK NDP STANDS WITH DYING PRINCE ALBERT CANCER PATIENT FIGHTING TO END CRUEL HOSPITAL PARKING FEES

Health Minister Ignores Pleas Of Dying Man For 125 Days & Counting
SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan NDP is standing at the legislature with terminally ill cancer patient Dennis Ogrodnick in his crusade to end what he describes as “cruel and mean-spirited" parking fees charged to patients receiving cancer treatment.
“Terminally ill cancer patients shouldn’t have to drive four hours to fight their government on such an easy problem to solve,” Meara Conway, Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Health Minister. “But that’s what we get after 18 years of this old and out-of-touch government.
“People with cancer have enough to deal with. Dennis and others like him shouldn’t have to fight two battles at once.”
Ogrodnick, a longtime community leader and former Prince Albert city councillor, has been told that the cancer in his kidneys will kill him. He’s made it his dying mission to restore free parking for cancer patients at Saskatchewan hospitals and health facilities.
Ogrodnick reached out to Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill 125 days ago and has still not seen any action.
“This is the birthplace of Medicare — and that means everyone deserves to receive quality and accessible healthcare,” Jared Clarke, Shadow Minister for Rural and Remote Health.
“Saskatchewan people deserve a future where our healthcare system is nation-leading again. A future where you don't need you credit card to access cancer can – only your health card.”
The Saskatchewan NDP is calling on the Sask. Party to let cancer patients park for free again at Saskatchewan hospitals and health facilities.
