SASK. NDP PUSHES FOR GAS TAX RELIEF AS SASKATCHEWAN FACES HIGHEST PUMP PRICES IN THE PRAIRIES

EMERGENCY MOTION WILL LOWER GAS PRICES BY 15 CENTS STARTING TOMORROW

REGINA – As Saskatchewan drivers struggle with the highest gas prices in the Prairies, Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck and her caucus will introduce an emergency motion today in the Legislature that will slash gasoline and diesel prices by 15 cents per litre starting tomorrow.

According to analysis from GasBuddy.com, drivers in Manitoba, where the provincial government has suspended the gas tax, are saving 15 cents per litre to fill up their tanks, resulting in hundreds of dollars in savings every year.

“The people of Saskatchewan want and need immediate action on affordability,” said Beck. “This emergency motion will save folks hundreds of dollars, starting tomorrow.

“I hear from so many families every day who are working harder and harder but are still falling behind.  Governments at all levels should always be looking at ways to make life more affordable, especially as we head into the holiday season.”

The Sask. Party has no plan to provide Saskatchewan people any cost-of-living relief until tax season next year, if at all.
