Ryan Meili is the Leader of the NDP Opposition and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Saskatoon Meewasin. He serves as the critic for Truth and Reconciliation, First Nations and Métis Relations, Executive Council and the Office of the Premier, Intergovernmental Affairs, Francophone Affairs, the Economy and Jobs.
Ryan was elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature as the MLA for Saskatoon Meewasin in a by-election on March 2, 2017.
He is a family doctor who lives in Saskatoon with his wife, Mahli, and their two sons, Abe and Gus. Prior to his election, he worked in Saskatoon's core neighbourhoods as a physician and advocate for upstream health investments. His book, A Healthy Society: How a focus on health can revive Canadian democracy, charts a course for democratic renewal in Canadian politics that ensures long-term investment in better outcomes for all.
Ryan grew up on his family's grain farm southwest of Moose Jaw, and has called Saskatoon home for more than 20 years.
Ryan is focused on listening to the people of Saskatchewan and building better schools and health care. He's committed to making Saskatchewan a place where everyone has a chance to succeed.
