Ryan Meili has been the Leader of the NDP Opposition since 2018. He was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Saskatoon Meewasin in a 2017 by-election. He was re-elected in 2020.

He is a family doctor who lives in Saskatoon with his wife, Mahli, and their two sons, Abe and Gus. Ryan grew up on his family's grain farm southwest of Moose Jaw, and has called Saskatoon home for more than 20 years.

Prior to his election, he worked in Saskatoon's core neighbourhoods as a physician and advocate for upstream health investments. His book, A Healthy Society: How a focus on health can revive Canadian democracy, charts a course for democratic renewal in Canadian politics that ensures long-term investment in better outcomes for all.

Ryan is focused on listening to the people of Saskatchewan and building better schools and health care. He's committed to making Saskatchewan a place where everyone has a chance to succeed.
