REGINA MAN DESERVES MEETING WITH HEALTH MINISTER AFTER WIFE ENDURED HORRIBLE CARE IN FINAL MONTHS

REGINA – Six months after losing his wife to brain cancer, Rob Allison wants to share his story with the Minister of Health in the hopes that future patients receive better care and attention than his wife did.

Lisa Allison passed away last April from an aggressive brain cancer just 10 weeks after being diagnosed.
“We went through hell — the whole system failed us,” said Allison. “I want the Minister to know the stress and trauma we were unnecessarily put through so that he fixes it and it never happens to anyone else.”
The news conference was organized by Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Minister for Rural and Remote Health Jared Clarke, who worked alongside Lisa as a teacher at a Regina school.
“The level of care and attention that the Allison family received during this difficult period is, frankly, shocking,” said Clarke. “It doesn’t meet the standard that Saskatchewan residents expect and deserve when it comes to healthcare in this province.”
Allison detailed a series of failures that compounded his wife’s suffering in her final weeks: a lack of communication from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Lisa’s pleas for help being ignored, and Rob even being called at home and asked to come and give Lisa her medications himself.
“Our healthcare workers are doing their best but are so overworked and understaffed that I spent half my time dealing with problems that should never have existed – precious time I should’ve been spending with Lisa,” said Allison.
Clarke has written Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill twice over the past several months on Allison’s behalf, requesting a meeting. To date, the Minister has not agreed to a meeting.
“The least the Minister can do is sit down with Rob, listen, and commit to fixing these gaps in care,” said Clarke. “We can’t have a bright future in this province if we don't have good healthcare.”

REGINA – Independent modelling conducted by Doug Ford’s energy firm reveals that Scott Moe and Jeremy Harrison’s uncosted energy plan risks bankrupting the people of Saskatchewan, and even the province itself, with its unfunded, ideological approach to the province’s energy future.

REGINA – Today, Carla Beck’s team introduced legislation to reverse the Moe government's cruel decision to charge some cancer patients parking fees every time they visit a health facility for treatment.
